Parkinson praises Addicks fitness

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson paid tribute to the fitness of his players after they beat MK Dons 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Second-half goals from Pawel Abbott and Scott Wagstaff cancelled out Luke Chadwick's early opener and handed the Addicks their second victory over the Dons in eight days. Parkinson said: "I thought the fitness of the boys was exceptional. We've had a lot of games in quick succession, similar to MK Dons, but I thought we got stronger as the game wore on. "Scott Wagstaff is probably the best athlete that I've worked with in my time in football so it's no surprise he has popped up at the back stick to get the winner. I was pleased with the overall performance apart from the first two minutes." Kyel Reid created both goals, and Parkinson added: "Kyel was excellent. He has made a lot of goals in recent games for us, including two here. At half-time he was frustrated because he wasn't getting a lot of the ball but he was patient, he waited for his moment to take the full-back on and he delivered with quality." Parkinson concluded: "This trophy is important because we came here after a defeat to Brentford and we put in a performance which we can now hopefully build on."
