Parkinson pleased enough with point
Former Addicks boss Alan Pardew looked set to leave The Valley with all three points when Adam Lallana put Southampton ahead, but Deon Burton's fourth goal of the season earned the hosts a share of the spoils.
Burton and Jonjo Shelvey had efforts disallowed for offside, while Lloyd Sam appeared to be tugged down in the penalty area late on by Dan Harding.
Parkinson said: "Southampton set their team out to stop us and in the first half they did a good job on it. In the second half I felt the lads responded magnificently.
"We had two disallowed goals and a penalty appeal where Lloydy got dragged down, so on the balance of the second half we probably deserved all three points. But after going a goal down a point is a good result. We'd love to be sat here with all three but all in all we'll take one.
"The linesman had been brave enough to disallow two goals but wasn't brave enough to give the penalty. He [Harding] was all over him, it was a definite penalty but I don't want to make that the main talking point."
