Parkinson can't shake anger

Charlton manager Phil Parkinson was furious with his players' display in the first period, but gave them credit for a stirring second-half fightback in a 2-1 derby defeat at Brentford First-half goals from Gary Alexander and Toumani Diagouraga put Brentford 2-0 up, but Charlton's Scott Wagstaff ensured a nail-biting finale for the Bees with a stinging volley 16 minutes from time. Parkinson said: "I'm still livid about the first 45 minutes. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb by not doing the things that we've been doing to give us four games unbeaten. "We weren't tight enough and didn't do the basics right and as a result we ended up 2-0 down at half-time, which makes it difficult when you come to a place like this. "In contrast I thought we deserved a point with the chances we created and the way we approached things in the second half. We rolled our sleeves up, didn't let them turn and did all the things we've done in training on the pitch. "It wasn't as if the way Brentford played came as any surprise to us, but we just didn't get into the game until the second half when I thought we were excellent. Unfortunately by then it's always going to be a big ask."
