Veteran Portsmouth defender Hermann Hreidarsson has agreed a new one-yearcontract at Fratton Park. News of the 34-year-old left-back's decision to stay on the south coast willend speculation linking the Iceland international with a move to Middlesbrough. The new deal also includes the option of a further year should Hreidarsson playa certain number of games next season. Executive chairman Peter Storrie said: 'Hermann's been looking at his options and he's decided he wants to stay. 'He's very strong and fit and had a great second half of last season. He's a real character and a great influence in the dressing room, so we're pleased to have him back.' Former Crystal Palace, Brentford, Wimbledon and Ipswich defender Hreidarsson  joined Pompey two years ago after a spell with Charlton. He featured in the side that won the FA Cup last year and played an influential role as the club pulled clear of relegation in the latter half of the season just ended.
