Vetokele blow for Addicks

Charlton will be without striker Igor Vetokele for their Sky Bet Championship opener against London rivals QPR.

Vetokele, top scorer for the Addicks last season with 11 goals, is injured and looks likely to miss the majority of August, with head coach Guy Luzon expecting him to take "two or three weeks" to regain full fitness.

Another player set to miss out the start of the campaign is goalkeeper Stephen Henderson. Luzon thinks it will be even longer before he is available again so Nick Pope is poised to stand in.

Zakarya Bergdich, Patrick Bauer, El-Hadji Ba, Simon Makienok, Ahmed Kashi, Cristian Ceballos and Naby Sarr have all been signed over the summer and the seven new recruits are available to make their debuts.

Paul Konchesky is in line to make his Queens Park Rangers debut against the club where he began his professional career.

The 34-year-old left-back, who arrived on a season-long loan from Leicester City earlier this week, started out at Charlton in 1997 and made more than 150 appearances for the club.

James Perch, formerly of Wigan, Ben Gladwin, a summer signing from Swindon Town, and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, a free capture from Bristol City, could also make their bows for Chris Ramsey's new-look side.

Charlie Austin and Leroy Fer, who Ramsey said are likely to leave the club this summer, are also in line to feature at the Valley.
