Frimpong set for Addicks bow

On-loan Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is set to make his Charlton debut against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The combative England youth international signed for the Addicks this week on a deal keeping him at the Valley until January 1.

Frimpong will compete with Eggert Jonsson and Johnnie Jackson for a place in Chris Powell's starting XI, while the Athletic manager can also call upon Dale Stephens, who missed the 1-0 win at Burnley last Saturday due to illness but has since recovered.

Wolves loanee Jonsson started at Turf Moor last week, while Scott Wagstaff, who has recently returned from a spell in npower League One with Leyton Orient, had to settle for a place on the bench, where he is likely to remain after Frimpong's arrival.

Charlton are chasing their fourth consecutive Championship victory.

Huddersfield forwards Jermaine Beckford and Sean Scannell remain doubtful and continue their respective fitness battles ahead of the game.

Beckford, on loan from Leicester, has missed the last two matches due to a hamstring strain, while Scannell has been out for the same period with a similar problem.

If both players fail to make it manager Simon Grayson is expected to start with Simon Church, on loan from Reading, up front alongside Lee Novak again.

Another striker, James Vaughan, remains sidelined with the thigh strain that has kept him out of the last five games and although Jimmy Spencer has returned from his loan spell at Brentford, he is unable to play due to his own thigh injury.

Grayson has no new injury or suspension problems and is unlikely to make too many, if any, changes as his side look to bounce back from last week's home defeat to Brighton.
