Battling Addicks bode well for Parky

The Addicks may have lost their 100% record, but Parkinson insisted the 1-1 draw was just as satisfying as their six previous victories after Deon Burton cancelled out Adam Lallana's opener. "We've had some very good victories of late but this point is just as pleasing because of the way the lads responded," said Parkinson. "Despite Southampton's league position, they're a good side and I was absolutely delighted with the way we responded." Saturday's game also saw the return of former Charlton manager Alan Pardew to The Valley, and his former assistant Parkinson enjoyed meeting up with the man he replaced at the helm. "We had a cup of tea beforehand and we shook hands afterwards in the tunnel. It was a fair old game and a good battle and I'm sure he's pleased with the result as well," added Parkinson.
