Basey targets successful season
The upcoming year is just as crucial for the 20-year-old as it is for the Addicks as he is entering the final 12 months of his contract.
However, after suffering from a groin injury towards the end of last season, Basey's sole focus is on getting fully fit so he can become an integral part of the team's push for promotion from League One.
"We need to get the club back where it belongs and push on together," he told the club's official website.
"We're confident. We've got good enough players to go straight back up, so I think we can do it. We need everyone to get together and be confident.
"Obviously, I'm looking to play more games than last season, and hopefully make sure this season is the only season we'll be in this league."
