Bailey handed Addicks armband
Player of the year Bailey will succeed Mark Hudson, who joined Cardiff over the summer, as the Addicks' new skipper.
Parkinson told the club's official website: "Nicky Bailey is going to be captain.
"I had a chat with him yesterday (Wednesday) and I think he is the type of player who leads by example on the pitch. He is a winner, he is a leader and that is what I want spreading through the club."
