Addicks chief has faith in youth

Murray confirmed Charlton will retain their Premier League Academy status, even though they will be in League One next season.[LNB]The academy has produced players such as England international Scott Parker and current rising star Jonjo Shelvey in recent years.[LNB]"We feel the academy is vital to the future of the club," he told the club's website.[LNB]"It is a difficult time financially, homegrown players take on even greater importance, and while we may be one of the few clubs outside the top two divisions that has an academy next season, a player such as Jonjo Shelvey is the perfect example of why we are putting our faith in our youth set-up.[LNB]"Over the years, there has been a conveyor belt of homegrown talent produced for the first team, with a number of notable successes in recent years, and we didn't want to turn that conveyor belt off."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
