Abbott buoyed by Addicks start

Pawel Abbott is delighted with Charlton`s 100% start to the League One season but insists no-one at the club is getting ahead of themselves as they prepare for a long promotion battle. A 1-0 opening-day win over Bournemouth was followed up by Friday`s 10-man 3-1 derby triumph at Leyton Orient, leaving the Addicks and Abbott`s former employers Oldham in the top two spots as the only sides in the division with a maximum six points. "I thought the lads did brilliantly, especially as going a man down left us struggling," Abbott told the club`s official website. "You could see Orient had all the possession, but we just countered them and obviously got two goals as well, so we are happy with that. "It is still early doors, though, and there are only two games gone, so no-one is getting carried away." Abbott is now preparing to face Oldham in a top-of-the-table clash at The Valley on Saturday, and he is looking forward to crossing paths with the team he left only just over two weeks ago. "It's come around quickly, and it will be nice to see the boys again," he added. "I wouldn't say they are a surprise package as it was only really last season they had an average season, before then they have always been a half-decent team. I think they will be good strong opposition for next week."
