Parolo gets Cesena off the mark

Marco Parolo scored seven minutes from time to give rock-bottom Cesena their first victory of the season in a 1-0 success at fellow strugglers Bologna.

Parolo hit an unstoppable curling effort into the top corner while goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli held firm in a frantic finale to give Cesena hope of avoiding the drop.

They came into this game with just three draws from 10 games this season and with no points and no goals away from home.

Coach Daniele Arrigoni only took over at the beginning of the month after Marco Giampaolo was sacked following a haul of just three points in nine games.

But the new man has managed to equal that total in just two games in charge, although Cesena remain bottom.

The defeat means Bologna will drop into the bottom three if either Lecce or Novara win away to Roma and Genoa respectively later on Sunday.
