Who cares what Rangers do?

Neil Lennon is only focused on what his side can do. Neil Lennon has no plans to concern himself with results at Rangers as he continues to plan on lifting the SPL title. In Saturday's lunchtime kick-off, Walter Smith's side fought back from being a goal behind against Hearts to win with an injury-time strike from Steven Naismith. The pressure to respond against Hamilton later in the day appeared to give stage fright to the defence as Mark McLaughlin scored after only three minutes and could have lost more during a shaky start to the game. However, after Shaun Maloney headed the equaliser in the 25th minute there was only ever going to be one winner. The Scotland striker, back in Craig Levein's squad for the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifying double header against the Czech Republic and Spain, gave Celtic the lead with a wonderful free-kick after the break leaving Gary Hooper to tie up the points which took the Parkhead men above Rangers on goal difference, each having won their first seven league games. Lennon was asked if there was any advantage or disadvantage knowing what Rangers had done earlier in the day. He said: "I don't really know. But we can't dictate what Rangers do. We have to look after our own results and we did that. The consistency that both teams are showing is something to be admired and we will keep pushing and trying to improve. But we need a big improvement on that performance against Hamilton over the new few games." Lennon praised the on-form Maloney, who, with the Czech Republic game coming up on Friday in Prague, could not have picked a better time to score a double. The Irishman said: "He was fantastic. He has been playing brilliantly. It was a wonderful free-kick but his overall performance was of a very high standard and I'm delighted for him."
