What a difference a year makes
Players playing for each other helps maintain a credible charge for the title Mark Wilson believes the togetherness at Parkhead is driving them to maintain their title challenge. On Sunday Celtic restored their five-point advantage over Rangers ahead of the latest Old Firm derby with a 3-1 victory at in-form Dundee United. This is rather different to how things were at this stage last year under Tony Mowbray but things are looking a lot better with Neil Lennon in charge. Wilson said: "We are closer together, all the boys get on with each other and no doubt the coaching staff have made a massive improvement. The boys love playing for them and that definitely shows on the pitch. We needed a win, it would have been a bit of a nightmare had we not won and momentum swings back in Rangers' favour. It shows we are up for the fight and we can go the distance, and we're winning these hard games." Lennon gave all the credit to his players for their resilience. Lennon said: "I don't think there are any prima donnas in the squad, they are prepared to roll up their sleeves and put their foot in. I don't take credit for that, it comes from the players themselves. Their fitness levels and appetite for work is there for us all to see." Lennon was full of praise for Wilson, who has brushed off persistent injury problems to become a key player in recent weeks. His spot at right-back looks assured with Cha Du-ri set for a lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury. Lennon said: "We might have to wrap him up in cotton wool for a wee while but he has been tremendous. That's two goals in four games but his all-round play has been excellent. (Craig) Conway is a very, very good player and Mark handled him very well. Allied to that the second goal was a thing of beauty." Wilson, however, admitted he was fortunate to stay on the park when he brought down Conway just before United scored, after being booked for his goal celebrations. He said: "You know yourself when it's a bad tackle and I thought it was a booking."
