WBA: Still no Mowbs approach

01 June 2009 12:19
Mowbray continues to be the subject of strong speculation linking him with a move back to Parkhead where he spent four years as a player in the 1990s. But the former Hibernian boss is continuing to press ahead with his plans for the new campaign with the Baggies who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season. Mowbray was instantly installed as one of the bookmakers' favourites after Gordon Strachan ended his spell in charge at Celtic. But the 43-year-old, although remaining among the candidates, is focusing on trying to help Albion regain their top-flight status at the first attempt. Albion on Monday reaffirmed that there has been "no official approach" for the ex-Middlesbrough and Ipswich player. Mowbray has been pressing ahead with his plans after being told he needs to reduce his playing staff from 31 to 20 for life in the Championship. Skipper Jonathan Greening has already committed to Albion but Mowbray has to sort out the future of the likes of James Morrison, Robert Koren and Jonas Olsson, who has been linked with Aston Villa and Everton.
