Vaz Te centred on Celtic
Ricardo Vaz Te has urged Hibernian not to dwell on their derby disappointment against Hearts and focus all their attention on Celtic instead.
Hibs were denied their first win in the fixture since May 2009 when 10-man Hearts snatched a late leveller to earn a 2-2 draw at Easter Road in a pulsating encounter on Sunday.
Next up for Colin Calderwood's men is the visit to Celtic on Wednesday night as they desperately push for a place in the top half of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League before the split. "We need to see where we went wrong and make sure it doesn't happen against Celtic," said Vaz Te.
"If you make one mistake against big teams, they will punish you. We just need to look forward now. Maybe the top six will be difficult now but we will stay focused. Our target is still achievable. All it means is that we have to try a bit harder, it doesn't mean that it's not possible. We just need to stay focused."
Hearts claimed first blood in the Edinburgh derby when Ryan Stevenson opened the scoring before a red card for Marius Zaliukas and a penalty converted by Liam Miller swung the clash in Hibs' favour.
Vaz Te - who joined the Leith club in February - fired the home side into the lead with 10 minutes to go but was denied the honour of being the match-winner when Stephen Elliott levelled four minutes later.
"I pretty much thought I'd scored the winner," said the Portuguese forward.
"I thought we had them for most of the game after they had a man sent off. After we got the goal in the first half, we controlled the game. We were very unlucky and it's very disappointing because we totally deserved to win and created more chances. So we are disappointed only to get one point."
Vaz Te made his debut in Hibs' previous game against St Johnstone and added: "At 2-1, with me getting the winner, I would have gone home a champion.
"I would be proud and feel like I had helped the team to achieve something. But that's football."
