Varga waiting for Bhoys go-ahead

Celtic's new signing Stanislav Varga will have to wait for his Bhoys debut due to a delay in his international clearance.

The Slovak stopper has been granted a work permit to begin his Parkhead career, but the English FA have yet to issue the International Registration Transfer Certificate needed by the Scottish FA.

The SFA has asked FIFA to force their English counterparts to release the relevant clearance, but Varga was highly unlikely to feature against Motherwell at the weekend, before the game was postponed.

A Celtic spokesman commented: "We and the SFA are hoping that the issue will be resolved quickly and we have people on our side."

Varga has signed until the end of the season, after leaving Sunderland by mutual consent.
