Travel broadens the mind

As long as there is enough time to revover before playing crutial games Joe Ledley does not think the postponement of their Scottish Cup game with Inverness until Wednesday will have any impact on Celtic's chances of securing the first silverware of the season. Celtic will take their second 340-mile round trip to the Highlands in five days after the quarter-final was postponed due to a water-logged pitch on Sunday morning. The trip will come just four days before the Co-operative Insurance Cup final against Rangers. Both sides will be affected by midweek games as Rangers will be playing a Europa League game against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday. Ledley said: "It was very disappointing, especially as we'd travelled up the day before. We could see on the journey it was going to be a doubt straight away. We went to the ground on Saturday though and there was no snow at all so that gave us a bit of hope. But obviously it continued all through the day and night and it made the pitch unplayable. I don't think it will affect us though because we came straight back home in the morning and we got to rest on Sunday. We're back training today and I don't think it's hurt us one bit." Celtic are the only side that can still win the domestic treble after they knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup earlier this month. But they now face one of their most crucial weeks in their search for silverware this season with trips to Inverness and Hampden. Ledley said: "We've got a very important week in terms of our overall season. There are two massive games in one week, the quarter-final of one cup and the final of another. We'll have to prepare ourselves mentally to go in and give them both 100%. But with the players we've got in the team at the moment, I think we can achieve what we want to achieve."
