Swans boss keen to keep Gomez

The 23-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed a fine debut season with the Swans since moving on-loan from Espanyol, with Scottish side Celtic amongst those rumoured to be charting his progress. But Martinez is hoping that if highly-rated Gomez is allowed to leave the Catalan club he will opt for a permanent move to Wales. "Espanyol are moving into a new stadium and financially they are probably in a position where they will have to listen to offers for any of their players, including Jordi," Martinez told the Swansea Evening Post. "After that, we know there is a lot of interest in him from British clubs. We know that because there are a lot of scouts watching our games and, if a midfielder scores 13 goals in the Championship, everyone is going to be aware. "There is going to be a lot of interest, but to go from that to say we will not have Jordi in the long-term would be foolish. It's ridiculous in fact."
