Strachan rejects loan approach

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has confirmed that he rejected a loan approach for one of his players, reported to have been defender Stephen McManus.

The 26-year-old was a rumoured target for Newcastle United, who wanted to send Jose Enrique to Parkhead in a loan swap deal until the end of the season.

Strachan told the Daily Record: "We have had no bids for anybody, none whatsoever.

"We had an enquiry when I asked someone in England about a loan and they asked about one of our players on loan. I said no.

"We have not had any bid whatsoever and the loan thing has not gone through.

"I asked for one of their players on loan, they asked for one of our players on loan and it was a quick no."
