Strachan unhappy with finishing

The champions find themselves behind Rangers on goal difference at the top of the SPL but long before Well defender Paul Quinn had cancelled out Scott McDonald's second-half opener, the game should have been settled in Celtic's favour.[LNB]McDonald's strike was his 13th of the season while Georgios Samaras who, with Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, formed a three-pronged strike force against the battling Steelmen, has scored one more.[LNB]Vennegoor of Hesselink has only notched twice in an injury-hit season, his form summed up by the easy chance he missed in the first half when he headed high over the bar from close range.[LNB]With a plethora of missed opportunities clearly dominating his thoughts, Strachan was irked by one suggestion that a draw had been a fair result.[LNB]He said: "It was nothing like a fair result. Absolutely not.[LNB]"One team got one shot on goal after us having so many chances and playing so well on a pitch that is not conducive to rugby, never mind football.[LNB]"We played some good football and made far more chances than them.[LNB]"We have won 3-1 and 4-2 here in the past and not made as many chances as we did today.[LNB]"If you go through the team - Hinkel was excellent.[LNB]"Nakamura was magnificent. Brown was excellent and I think Gary Caldwell was voted man of the match.[LNB]"The centre halves didn't have a problem and Artur Boruc didn't have a save to make.[LNB]"Scott McDonald scored and to get all that and say it was a fair result, I don't know where you are coming from."[LNB]Strachan continued: "I asked my players to make chances and we did that, and played when we could play.[LNB]"At the moment we can't score goals from the chances we are making, it's as simple as that.[LNB]"The title will be decided by the team who scores more goals.[LNB]"We are not scoring as many goals this season and because Rangers are scoring more, they are top on goal difference.[LNB]"Two goals in three games from Scott isn't bad but the rest of the team will have to join in.[LNB]"Until we get that right, it's going to be a scrap for us.[LNB]"All we can do is keep making chances and dominating games as we did and it's up to people to finish."[LNB]Motherwell moved in to the top six as they extended their unbeaten run in the SPL to eight games since losing to Hamilton in December.[LNB]Despite his delight with the point, manager Mark McGhee was still harbouring regrets about being knocked out of the Homecoming Scottish Cup by St Mirren on Thursday night.[LNB]He said: "I said to Gordon before the game, even if we win 10-0 it won't make up for Thursday. That will take a long time to get out of my system.[LNB]"Even though we would have played Celtic in the next round I had high hopes. But I am pleased to be in the top six. Psychologically, it's massive.[LNB]"We have gone on an unbelievable run in the league and that is because of the tenacity we showed today.[LNB]"It vindicates what I was saying at the end of last year about injuries. I knew if we got players back then we would be fine.[LNB]"If we are within four points of third place when the split comes then we will have a chance."[LNB][LNB]
