Strachan hopeful over McManus deal

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan is still hopeful of signing Stephen McManus ahead of the start of the 2010/11 campaign.[LNB] The defender enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Championship side last season but the club have yet to agree a fee with Celtic for the player.[LNB]Strachan told the Evening Gazette: "Stephen wants to be here and we want him to be here.[LNB]"We will make it happen it one way or another. But I can't say when it will happen."[LNB]Elsewhere, the home clash against Sheffield United has been moved to Sunday August 22 (1.15pm kick-off) after being chosen for live television coverage by Sky Sports.[LNB]The Carling Cup tie at Chesterfield on Tuesday August 10 will also be screened on Sky.
