Stokes seals Celtic win over St Johnstone

Anthony Stokes scored the only goal of the game as Scottish Premier League champions Celtic beat St Johnstone 1-0 in a lacklustre clash at Parkhead here on Thursday.

The Irishman, one of seven changes to Neil Lennon's side, struck from close range in the 29th minute after fellow striker Mo Bangura caused confusion in the visitors' defence following a Celtic corner.

Celtic stand-in keeper Lukasz Zaluska saved well from from Saints midfielder Murray Davidson just before the break and Bangura struck the post in the second half but the match was generally a poor one as the Hoops eased to victory.
