Stokes happy to stay as long as Celtic want him

It would be hard to sack your agent when he is also your father. Perhaps they should talk to each other before they talk to the press. Anthony Stokes insists he would be happy to remain at Celtic for the rest of his career. There appeared to have been a breakdown in communication between father (John) and son (Anthony) (AKA agent and player) following the son being left unused during the 120 minutes of Sunday's Co-operative Insurance Cup final. A story emerged afterwards saying his dad/agent had advised him to put in a transfer request. That was denied by Stokes junior on Tuesday - and he re-iterated that would rather stay at Parkhead and fight for his place in Neil Lennon's side. He said: "I'm disappointed about what's happened. I don't want people to think I want to leave Celtic. I'll fight for my place, that's what football is all about. I'm completely focused on playing for Celtic. If it was up to me I'd be here for the rest of my career. I'm totally committed. I've got a long time left on my contract. Leaving isn't even in the equation."
