Stewart: Draw was a fair result

Midfielder Stewart helped dent the visitors' bid for a fourth straight SPL title, with Bruno Aguiar's stunning free-kick cancelling out Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's first-minute opener. Stewart believes Hearts should have made more of their first-half dominance. Asked how he felt about the result, he told Setanta Sports 1: "I think slight disappointment considering the domination that we had in the first half that we weren't able to convert that into a lead. "We knew we were so far on top in the first half that we were going to get a reaction from Celtic in the second half. "They put us under a bit of pressure, they started to play long balls into the corners and started trying to turn us and gain a bit of territorial advantage. "The guys at the back stood up to it quite well and, over the whole piece, I think maybe a draw was a fair result." Celtic scored inside 25 seconds when Hearts goalkeeper Janos Balogh got both hands to Vennegoor of Hesselink's shot but failed to keep it out. Stewart added: "We've conceded quite a few goals early on and we're bitterly disappointed to have done it again today. "It was just an unfortunate mistake from Janos that allowed them to go one up." Hearts also conceded an early goal in their 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Tynecastle back in November. Stewart said: "I can remember the first game here against Celtic earlier in the season. "They scored early and we crumbled and they dominated the game. "There was such a vast difference from that game to this." Jambos boss Csaba Laszlo felt his side were on top for most of the match. "For about 70 minutes we played very good football, we had a lot of chances," he said. "Okay, in the last five or six minutes Celtic came out and we lost a little bit of confidence." Laszlo was delighted with his side's reaction to going behind. "We definitely have a big heart," he said. "You cannot give such a big advantage for Celtic and we also did it against Rangers. "But afterwards we came back and it was important to come back and play the football that we've played all season." Laszlo insisted he would not criticise Balogh for Celtic's goal before reviewing footage of the incident. "I don't ever criticise my players - only in the dressing room," said Laszlo, who hopes to welcome midfielder Laryea Kingston back from injury next weekend. "I must see it on the TV. What was wrong, we need to analyse afterwards." Celtic boss Gordon Strachan said: "I'm happy with a lot of what went on today. "The determination levels from both sides were the same - they were fantastic. "But when you look at the actual chances we had to win the game, they were far greater. "I asked Artur (Boruc) if he actually made a save and I don't think he saved the ball at all. "But they're powerful at set plays - you have to deal with that. Our team was picked accordingly. "We dealt with a lot of that no problem and then when the game died a bit, which we had expected, we created a lot of chances. "The two managers will be maybe pleased with the performances and maybe both of them not happy with the outcome." Strachan said of his side's early goal: "Sometimes that can go against you." The strike was Vennegoor of Hesselink's third in a week following a long drought dating back to last year. Strachan said of the Dutchman's return to form: "Yes, it's handy! Especially with Georgios (Samaras) injured for a while. "His work rate again was excellent."
