Short break not so bad - Wilson

Mark Wilson is hoping a truncated summer break will pay dividends when Celtic start their SPL campaign away to Hibernian on Sunday.[LNB] The Hoops right-back had less than a month off before returning for pre-season training and a tour of Australia which came before a challenge match against Cardiff City in Wales on Wednesday night.[LNB]Speaking in Glasgow where he was helping launch ESPN's coverage of the SPL this season, Wilson looked to the positives of a short break.[LNB]He said: "The break seemed pretty quick.[LNB]"The end of one season and the start of another seem seamless. But that's the job. You have to come back some time.[LNB]"And in years gone by when you have had six or eight weeks off, it all seemed a bit strange getting the ball out and you seem a bit rusty.[LNB]"But when you have only had three-and-a-half weeks off it seems like you have never been away.[LNB]"I have been out injured many times for longer than that and so you pick things up quickly."[LNB]Wilson put his Scotland career on hold due to fatigue at the end of last season and revealed he may now have to do it again for his family.[LNB]He made his full international debut in February as a substitute in the 3-0 Carling Nations Cup win over Northern Ireland in Dublin.[LNB]However, after struggling through to the end of the season and a Scottish Cup final win over Motherwell nursing a knee injury, he requested not to be included in Craig Levein's squad for the two games against Wales and Republic of Ireland which concluded the inaugural tournament.[LNB]The former Dundee United player is hoping he will be reinstated for the friendly against Denmark at Hampden on August 10 but revealed it is the same day his wife Kelly is due to give birth to their second child.[LNB]He said: "I would love to be involved (against Denmark).[LNB]"But my wife is booked in to have our baby on the day of the game so I don't know how that is going to work out.[LNB]"If I am in the squad, great, and then I will obviously have to speak to the manager if that comes around.[LNB]"If I'm not I will be at the hospital that day."
