Rogne would welcome Sol signing

Thomas Rogne believes he could only benefit from playing alongside Sol Campbell if Celtic manage to secure the services of the veteran defender this summer.

The 35-year-old is out of contract following an impressive spell at Arsenal last season and is reportedly high on Hoops' boss Neil Lennon's wish-list. Campbell has so far refused to rule out a move to the Glasgow giants.

And Rogne insists he would welcome the opportunity to work with such an experienced player rather than fear the extra competition. "You could learn a lot from him," said the 19-year-old defender. "He has played in a lot of big, important games and he has a lot of experience, of course."

"That's a good thing because he is someone I could learn from.

"You always want to be ahead of other players but there will always be competition for places.

"There already is competition, so you need to just focus on yourself and help out the team as much as you can."

Robbie Keane enjoyed a successful loan spell at Celtic last season and some fans are hoping for another marquee signing ahead of the new campaign.

Rogne added: "Robbie Keane wasn't just a big name - he was also a great player as well and a great professional.

"To me, it doesn't matter if it's a big name, as long as he is a good player.

"I'm sure the club is going to make the right decision regarding which players to bring in."
