Reid: Boss search firmly underway

The Hoops parted company with Strachan by mutual consent at the end of the 2008/09 campaign. Having failed to lead the club to a fourth consecutive Scottish Premier League title, after being pipped by Old Firm rivals Rangers, Strachan felt there was a need for a fresh approach at Parkhead. Numerous names have already been linked with the post, despite Celtic's insistence that no shortlist had been completed. However, Reid has now confirmed that targets have been indentified and he is hoping a new man will be in place in the not too distant future. "We're already on the case, but it may be a little time yet," he told Sky Sports News. "The first priority is to get the Celtic manager in and the second priority is to get back to the top of the league." Reid also confirmed that Strachan, a coach renowned for being opinionated, had offered up the name of a possible candidate after announcing his departure. "You will not be surprised to hear that Gordon has never been reticent at giving his opinion, so he has already expressed that opinion and we will take it into account," he added.
