Pearson set for exit

Celtic midfielder Stephen Pearson is poised to leave the SPL leaders in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has struggled for first-team action with the Bhoys since his arrival from Motherwell in January 2004 and is desperate to move on and get his career back on track.

Pearson's agent, Willie McKay, told the Daily Record: "Gordon Strachan has reluctantly agreed to let Stephen go in January if the price is right.

"He knows Stephen is a great professional, who has always been popular within Parkhead and among the Celtic fans.

"But Gordon can't guarantee him a game every week and while he would like to keep him at the club, he recognises Stephen needs first-team football."
