Pacult suffers McGarvey memory loss

The Austrian club are back in Scotland's second city for the first time since their controversial European Cup Winners' Cup clash with the Hoops in season 1984/85.[LNB]After losing 3-1 in the first game in Vienna, Celtic were 3-0 up at home and looking forward to the next round when Rudi Weinhofer collapsed to the ground, claiming to have been hit by a missile thrown from the terraces.[LNB]A host of witnesses cast doubt on the validity of the Rapid player's claim but UEFA sensationally ordered a third game to be played after an appeal by Rapid.[LNB]Pacult scored the only goal of the match at Old Trafford to take Rapid through and the Austrian club went all the way to the final where they lost to Everton.[LNB]McGarvey, who played in all three games, has been widely quoted describing the Rapid side of 1984 as "cheats" and there was rumours that the former Hoops striker would turn up at pre-match press conference to confront Pacult.[LNB]In the event, McGarvey was absent, but asked outright if his side had cheated in their last visit to Celtic Park 25 years ago, Pacult, speaking through an interpreter, snapped, "no" then addressed the question of the former Celtic player.[LNB]"It's a pity for him but I can't remember him," the Rapid boss said. "But if he was here, I would say 'good evening' to him.[LNB]"You can't change anything from 25 years ago.[LNB]"I have my feelings about then but that is neither here nor there now.[LNB]"We are here to play the game and what happened 25 years ago, good or bad, you can't really change.[LNB]"And to be quite frank it's getting on my nerves right now."[LNB]The Rapid boss, growing increasingly irritated by the line of questioning, added: "It was UEFA who made the decision, not Rapid. "There was a third game, we won it and what can I say about it? That's that."[LNB]Rapid arrived in Glasgow top of the table after a 3-0 win over Hamburg on matchday one and Pacult admits that result, coupled with knocking out Aston Villa in the previous round, will put Celtic on alert.[LNB]He said: "I think we have lost the element of surprise. But Celtic are under more pressure than us.[LNB]"We can see how we can get forward but it depends on injuries.[LNB]"However, we have several options available to us."[LNB][LNB]
