O'Dea came close to leaving Parkhead in January with Burnley making a move to sign him on loan.[LNB]However, the move failed to materialise and O'Dea ended up staying in Glasgow.[LNB]O'Dea emerged as the unlikely hero of Sunday's 2-0 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers in the Co-operative Insurance Cup final and the Irishman is thankful that he did not miss out the success by moving away from the club.[LNB]"Life is a weird thing. A lot of people were trying to convince me football can change in a day but I was struggling to believe them," O'Dea told the Daily Record."But I've worked hard and it's now paying off.[LNB]"I was as close as you can get to leaving. It was all agreed but some of the lads had a few niggling injuries and that stopped me going. Literally, it went down to the last day.[LNB]"It looked like I may still go but thank God now I didn't.[LNB]"Burnley were trying to rush it through but the minute it was over I just thought about winning trophies here."[LNB]Bhoys boss Gordon Strachan was delighted for O'Dea and praised the defender for responding positively to missing out on the loan move to Burnley.[LNB]"I couldn't be more pleased for him and Aiden McGeady, our other scorer," said Strachan.[LNB]"They're both products of Celtic's youth academy and that's always a very encouraging sign.[LNB]"Darren was disappointed when he couldn't get away from Celtic on loan but I felt we needed him at the club. He was upset but he didn't let it affect his attitude."[LNB][LNB]
