Celtic have confirmed Finland coach Stuart Baxter will not be taking a role at the club following talks with the Finnish FA.

Neil Lennon revealed Baxter had agreed to act as his advisor, but Finland's FA swiftly stated he was contracted with them full-time.

FA chief Kimmo Lipponen said it was impossible for Baxter to work with Celtic on a part-time basis, leading the Bhoys into a swift climbdown.

"As agreed with the Finnish FA, following further discussions, Stuart will not take up any formal position with Celtic," read a club statement on their official website.

"We would like to take the opportunity to wish Stuart and the Finnish FA every success in their forthcoming European Championship campaign."
