Daryl Murphy wants to taste success with Celtic Daryl Murphy is determined to help bring more silverware to Parkhead this season. back on top of the league with five out of five won, Celtic turn their minds to the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Wednesday night when they welcome Inverness in the third round. Celtic picked up the trophy in the same competition in 2009 and Murphy is optimistic of success this season. He said: "I think every competition we're left in now, especially the league, we are looking to win. We know it's not going to be easy as the cup is full of surprises, but we will be going out in every game we play to win. All the lads that have come here are hungry for success and I'm no different. I want to win as many leagues and cups as I possibly can and there are no better clubs to do that at than Celtic." On Saturday Celtic had to come from behind to beat Kilmarnock after beginning lethargically against Hearts the previous week before running out 3-0 winners. Murphy knows a better start is required. He went on: "In the last few games now it's taken us about 20 minutes to get out of the blocks. In the time that we started (against Kilmarnock) we were already a goal down so it's something we need to work on. We just need to start coming out straight away for games and producing from the first minute to the last minute." Murphy cancelled out Conor Sammon's seventh-minute opener at Rugby Park from the penalty spot before Anthony Stokes scored the second-half winner. Murphy had to insist on taking the penalty, with Stokes, introduced as a first-half substitute for the injured Paddy McCourt, keen to step up and take responsibility. This was just an illustration of the competition between the strikers at Neil Lennon's disposal. Murphy said: "Hopefully at the end of the season both of us will have a good few goals. We're not going to have a competition between each other, if he scores more than me then fair play. Obviously you just want to score as many as you can. I don't like the way he tried to take the penalty off me yesterday, so I let him know that I'm taking them. With the strikers we've got you know you have to be on top of your game and be scoring on a regular basis to keep in the side. If you don't there's plenty of people who can come in and do that job." Celtic defeated Inverness 1-0 at Caledonian Stadium on the opening day of the season and Murphy is wary of the Highland side. Murphy said: "They will be tough as we went up there and they were probably the better team for the first half really. They created more than us and we looked a bit shaky at times, but I think overall in the game, especially in the second half, we could have won by a lot more. So we know what we're going to get when they come here on Wednesday. It's going to be a tough game."
