Murphy sets sights on silverware

Striker Daryl Murphy is determined that Celtic succeed in bringing silverware to Parkhead this season.[LNB] Celtic, who are level with Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premier League following a 100% start from five games, entertain Inverness in the third round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Wednesday night.[LNB]Celtic's most recent silverware came in the same competition in 2009 and Murphy is optimistic of success this season.[LNB]"I think every competition we're left in now, especially the league, we are looking to win," said the 27-year-old, who joined from Sunderland this summer.[LNB]"We know it's not going to be easy as the cup is full of surprises, but we will be going out in every game we play to win.[LNB]"All the lads that have come here are hungry for success and I'm no different.[LNB]"I want to win as many leagues and cups as I possibly can and there are no better clubs to do that at than Celtic."[LNB]Celtic had to come from behind in their win over Kilmarnock on Sunday after beginning lethargically against Hearts the previous week before triumphing 3-0.[LNB]And Murphy knows the Bhoys must start better.[LNB]"In the last few games now it's taken us about 20 minutes to get out of the blocks," he added.[LNB]"In the time that we started (against Kilmarnock) we were already a goal down so it's something we need to work on.[LNB]"We just need to start coming out straight away for games and producing from the first minute to the last minute."[LNB]Murphy cancelled out Conor Sammon's seventh-minute opener at Rugby Park from the penalty spot before Anthony Stokes netted a second-half winner.[LNB]Murphy had to insist on taking the penalty, with Stokes, introduced as a first-half substitute for the injured Paddy McCourt, keen to step up in an illustration of the competition between the strikers at Neil Lennon's disposal.[LNB]"Hopefully at the end of the season both of us will have a good few goals," said Murphy of former Hibernian striker Stokes.[LNB]"We're not going to have a competition between each other, if he scores more than me then fair play.[LNB]"Obviously you just want to score as many as you can. I don't like the way he tried to take the penalty off me yesterday, so I let him know that I'm taking them.[LNB]"With the strikers we've got you know you have to be on top of your game and be scoring on a regular basis to keep in the side.[LNB]"If you don't there's plenty of people who can come in and do that job."[LNB]Celtic defeated Inverness 1-0 at Caledonian Stadium on the opening day of the league season and Murphy is wary of the Highland side.[LNB]"They will be tough as we went up there and they were probably the better team for the first half really," said Murphy.[LNB]"They created more than us and we looked a bit shaky at times, but I think overall in the game, especially in the second half, we could have won by a lot more.[LNB]"So we know what we're going to get when they come here on Wednesday. It's going to be a tough game."
