Murphy sets sights on silverware

Striker Daryl Murphy is determined that Celtic succeed in bringing silverware to Parkhead this season.

Celtic, who are level with Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League following a 100% start from five games, entertain Inverness in the third round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Wednesday night. The Hoops' most recent silverware came in the same competition in 2009 and Murphy is optimistic of success this season.

"I think every competition we're left in now, especially the league, we are looking to win," said the 27-year-old, who joined from Sunderland this summer.

"We know it's not going to be easy as the cup is full of surprises, but we will be going out in every game we play to win.

"All the lads that have come here are hungry for success and I'm no different.

"I want to win as many leagues and cups as I possibly can and there are no better clubs to do that at than Celtic."

Celtic had to come from behind in their win over Kilmarnock on Sunday after beginning lethargically against Hearts the previous week before triumphing 3-0, and Murphy knows the Bhoys must start better.

"In the last few games now it's taken us about 20 minutes to get out of the blocks," he added.

"In the time that we started (against Kilmarnock) we were already a goal down so it's something we need to work on.

"We just need to start coming out straight away for games and producing from the first minute to the last minute."
