Mulgrew out of Scotland squad

Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has been ruled out of Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Serbia at Hampden on Saturday. The Bhoys defender is still struggling with the Achilles tendon injury which forced him to miss the 2-2 home draw with Hibernian last week.

Bristol City defender Ricky Foster has been added to the squad and he is joined in the party by Wolves' defender Christophe Berra, who returned north following the birth of his daughter. The news on Berra is a welcome boost for coach Craig Levein who is already without Steven Whittaker, Phil Bardsley, Danny Fox and Russell Martin.

"On behalf of the squad, we are delighted with the news and send our congratulations to Christophe and his family," he said. "We look forward to him joining us. He has been training at his club this week so there are no issues with his fitness and I'm sure he'll come back to us on a high. "Christophe is a very important player for us and it will be good to have him available for Saturday."
