Mowbray planning Celtic clearout

Mowbray believes new faces are needed if Celtic are to compete for honours on all fronts after a disappointing start to the season. The former Celtic defender has previously questioned the quality of the players at his disposal following his arrival as Gordon Strachan's successor in the summer. Mowbray has revealed he has been working hard at identifying transfer targets and claims there could be major changes to his squad in the next transfer window. "I think the lifeblood of any club is basically new talent," said Mowbray. "The club has got to evolve. "Players stagnate if they stay at clubs too long, especially if they're not in and around the team every week, you've got to keep moving it on. "So if you're not out there looking for fresh talent, your club is probably standing still, which means it's probably going backwards because everybody else is moving on. "I've travelled the world watching footballers because good talented ones excite me and I want to reach the stage somewhere down the line that we have an abundance of highly talented players." Mowbray is believed to be targeting a move for Tours striker Olivier Giroud after watching the player in action last week, but the Celtic chief is refusing to give too much away regards his interest in the player. "I don't think it's time to sit here and speculate about every footballer that we might be interested in," added Mowbray. "We're going through a process of trying to identify footballers who might strengthen our squad as we move on. "It was widely reported that we were in France this week." Celtic v Hapoel Tel Aviv.
