Mowbray drawn back to Celtic
18 Jun 2009 - 09:28:18
Tony Mowbray admitted he felt drawn back to Celtic after being unveiled as new Parkhed manager.
Mowbray, 45, has joined the Bhoys on a rolling one-year contract after deciding to leave West Bromwich Albion.
The former Celtic defender will succeed Gordon Strachan in the hot-seat after revealing that his deep affection for the club was behind his return.
Mowbray lost his wife to breast cancer during his playing days at the Glasgow club.
"I played here for four years in the early 1990s at a time when the club wasn't at its greatest heights," he said.
"Yet, when I left Celtic, I was overwhelmed by the support the greater family gave me.
"It leaves you with a warmth and a support system behind you. When this opportunity arose for me, I felt drawn to it and here I am.
"I will try to put my stamp on the team and try to give the supporters something back."
