Mowbray accepts shock loss

Tony Mowbray refused to make excuses after his Celtic side conceded two late goals in their 2-1 Europa League defeat at the hands of Hapoel Tel-Aviv.

Georgios Samaras' opened looked like being enough for the Hoops to leave Israel with three precious group stage points, but a late capitulation led to the home side not only getting back on level terms but grabbing a late winner.

"We're really disappointed to lose in the manner we did with the two late goals," said Mowbray.

"I can't fault the players' effort. I thought they stuck to the game plan very well.

"But we played against a decent side and you could feel they were building up momentum, probably at a time where it was the most draining period of the game for our team.

"But no excuses as over the 90 minutes they probably deserved their victory."
