Mowbray to be named Bhoys boss
Mowbray has built up a fine reputation during his three campaigns at The Hawthorns, but failed to keep them in the Premier League last season.
The Baggies are believed to have accepted compensation of around £1.5million and Mowbray could be unveiled at Parkhead on Monday, according to the Scottish Herald and The Times.
Mowbray became Celtic's number one target after Owen Coyle decided to stay in charge at Burnley following their promotion to England's top tier.
The appointment of the former Bhoys centre-back, who played for the Old Firm giants between 1991 and 1995, will end a two-week search for a replacement for Strachan, who announced his resignation after failing to secure a fourth successive SPL title.
Mowbray will be assisted by Peter Grant, the former Celtic midfielder, and Neil Lennon, who will remain as first-team coach next season.
It brings to an end speculation that had also included Wim Jansen, Tony Adams, Roy Keane, Roberto Martinez and Henrik Larsson.
Mowbray, 45, will now be charged with the task of recapturing the SPL title and will be given funds to strengthen a squad that could lose Shunsuke Nakamura, who has been offered a return to Yokohama Marinos, and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who is expected to move back to Holland.
The former Middlesbrough defender is likely to be a popular appointment among Celtic fans as he shone during a spell in charge of Hibernian, and puts an emphasis on free-flowing, attacking football.
