Mowbray lifted by second-half display

Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane scored a hat-trick after the break to see off Jimmy Calderwood's Kilmarnock.[LNB]But Mowbray admitted he was not happy after a lacklustre opening 45 minutes.[LNB]"The first half wasn't good enough really and we made the players aware of that at half-time and thankfully we found the right formula to get the right result," he told Sky Sports News. "We needed to be better and we were.[LNB]"Ultimately this team has to find standards that are very, very high and sustain them for 90 minutes."[LNB]Mowbray had cautious words of praise for Keane, who has now scored eight goals in eight games.[LNB]"The bottom line is that it is a team thing but Robbie stuck the ball in the back of the net and we're thankful he's doing that," said the Hoops boss.[LNB]Keane played down his role in the win, saying: "The most important thing is getting the win and getting into the next round.[LNB]"The first half we didn't play well and the manager said a few things and we were better in the second half.[LNB]"I believe in my own ability - that if I get chances I'll score goals."[LNB]The on-loan Tottenham striker admitted the cup has a new importance for Celtic after they fell 13 points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premier League title race.[LNB]"This is realistically our best chance so we look forward to the next round," said Keane.[LNB]Calderwood lamented the missed opportunities which saw his side hit the woodwork twice before Celtic scored.[LNB]"That's what has costed us - the quality of the finishing," said Calderwood, who admitted he was a Keane fan.[LNB]"He's a joy to watch but it'd be better if was in your team."[LNB][LNB]
