Mowbray: It's all about the goals

Celtic have made just 13 accurate attempts on goal in three Group C games so far.[LNB]The Hoops are bottom of the section with one point and take on section leaders Hamburg, who went on to top the table on six points with their 1-0 win in Glasgow last month.[LNB]Before that defeat, Celtic scored in the 2-1 defeat by Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel and drew 1-1 at home to Rapid Vienna.[LNB]Consequently, three points are needed in the Nordbank Arena if the Glasgow side are to have a realistic chance of qualifying but in contrast to the domestic scene, Celtic have evidently struggled in front of goal.[LNB]However, the Parkhead boss, who has often used positive statistics to explain some poor results, said: "I'm not interested to be honest.[LNB]"Someone told me on the flight coming over that Juventus have scored three goals in their four matches and have got eight points.[LNB]"It is all about the result, really.[LNB]"If we'd won all three games with just three shots you'd all be sitting here all happy.[LNB]"All I can look at is our league games.[LNB]"We've just had 30-odd shots in one game (against Kilmarnock), and maybe 55-60 shots on goal in a week.[LNB]"Again, it is about how many goals you score.[LNB]"I look at my staff and I look at shots, possession, etc, and that's how you build levels of performance.[LNB]"But, ultimately. it is goals that count, and can you win the match."[LNB]Mowbray insists he is "philosophical" rather than worried about the prospect of European elimination which will come if Celtic lose and Hapoel win against Rapid Vienna.[LNB]The former Hibernian and West Brom manager went on: "Philosophical, I would suggest, is the word.[LNB]"I understand the games we have played in and how they have panned out. "We could easily be sitting here on six or seven points.[LNB]"But we know we have one and we have to accept that.[LNB]"That is a statistic which can't be twisted or bent, it's there in your face. We will try and have four by tonight."[LNB]He added: "The team is trying to adjust to the new demands, and the way I want them to play.[LNB]"I have enjoyed the games in Europe and yet I have not enjoyed the results at the end of them.[LNB]"I hope as the team improves over time that the European experience is something we can look forward to."[LNB][LNB] Hamburg 1/2, Draw 3/1, Celtic 6/1
