Mehmet delight as Hoops crash out

Mehmet's second-half penalty handed St Mirren a sensational quarter-final victory, a week after they had lost 7-0 to the same opposition in the Scottish Premier League. Craig Dargo won the spot-kick for the Buddies after 55 minutes and English striker Mehmet made no mistake, sending Artur Boruc the wrong way. "Me and the boys went out and put a shift in," Mehmet told Sky Sports 1. "We knew it would be tough, especially after the hammering we got last week at Parkhead, but the boys stuck together. "It's a brilliant feeling. I'm just happy that I stuck it away." Mehmet's goal was his first in 15 attempts against Celtic and he admitted he had been lucky to get the chance to break his drought. "I just kept calm and tucked it away and I'm delighted," he said. "I've been lucky that Craig Dargo won the penalty and I just put it away." St Mirren goalkeeper Chris Smith, who came in for criticism for his display last week at Parkhead, admitted the result was important for morale. "It's given the boys a massive lift," he said.
