McIntyre is currently assistant technical director of the Scottish Football Association and will take up his position with the Scottish champions on July 1. He will report to Chris McCart, head of Celtic Academy, and will have responsibility for overseeing the senior academy groups, namely Celtic's U19 and U17 teams. McCart said: "We regard this as great news and a major achievement for the club. "Tommy is without doubt one of the most respected young coaches in Europe. "We are sure that his appointment will be of huge benefit to the club as we aim to build on the achievements of our youth programmes in recent years." Chief executive Peter Lawwell added: "The club in recent years has enjoyed a tremendous track record of developing its own players. "Tommy's appointment is another example of the importance we place in this area. "Tommy is a highly sought-after individual and we are delighted that he has chosen to join Celtic - we are sure he will make a tremendous impact." McIntyre said: "It's a big club and, for me, it's an honour and a privilege to be asked to come in to Celtic Football Club and be given the role of developing certain aspects of the club."
