McCourt desperate for improvement

Celtic winger Paddy McCourt says the Bhoys are desperate to "put things right" next season after finishing the campaign just gone empty-handed.[LNB] Celtic were forced to look on as Rangers triumphed comfortably in the SPL title race, and the season was made more miserable by a Scottish Cup exit against Ross County.[LNB]The defeat to the First Division club proved to be the only blip on interim Neil Lennon's CV as he guided Celtic to eight wins out of eight in the SPL after taking over from Tony Mowbray.[LNB]McCourt may not have been involved in those games but he is as eager as everyone else to come back stronger next season.[LNB]"Personally, I never played the last eight league games, which was a bit disappointing," he said.[LNB]"But the team is more important and they were winning games so that's the most important thing and that's all that matters.[LNB]"I think everyone is just looking forward to getting a break.[LNB]"The players know this year wasn't good enough and are just looking to recharge their batteries, come back for the new season and hopefully put things right."[LNB]McCourt may not have been able to make an impact in the final league games but he ended on a personal high note when he grabbed the opener with an impressive solo effort in Tuesday's 2-0 friendly win over St Pauli.[LNB]Reflecting on his own season, McCourt told Celtic's official website: "It's been all right.[LNB]"I managed to make my full debut and went on to make a few starts and get a few goals.[LNB]"So it's not been bad but it's not been great either, although it's been an improvement on my first season.[LNB]"Obviously making my full debut, scoring and picking up a man of the match were all personal highlights.[LNB]"It was a season where there weren't too many highlights for the club though, as it was a poor season by Celtic's standards."
