McCarthy focused on relegation fight

Hoops manager Gordon Strachan confirmed on Friday he had made an offer to bring the 18-year-old to Parkhead next season. The offer did not meet the Lanarkshire club's valuation and was promptly rejected but it is likely Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell will return with an improved bid. However, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 midfielder is focused only on keeping Accies in the SPL. "I was upset at reports that suggested I wanted to quit Hamilton," he told the Daily Record. "It isn't true. I'm happy at the club but I'm also flattered a club such as Celtic have shown an interest in me. "However, I want Accies fans to know the only thing I'm interested in right now is Hamilton."
