Manchester City could break 56 year old record with Celtic win

Pep Guardiola's transformation of Manchester City has been remarkable. They have beaten every team they have faced in a competitive game so far this season bringing the total to 10. If they get a victory in Scotland in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The record is held by the double winning Tottenham Hotspur's side of 1960/61, captained by Danny Blanchflower, Dave Mackay and Bobby Smith. This Spurs side won their first 11 competitive matches, all of which were league games back then, and they eventually became the first team to do the double since the inaugural season of 1888-89 when Preston North End's original "invincibles" side swept all before them.

By amazing coincidence it was Man City that brought Spurs winning run to an end with a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane and if that wasn't enough providence, then if City beat Celtic midweek, the record breaking match will be at White Hart Lane on October the 2nd against Spurs.

Here are a list of Pep's victims so far en route to their perfect 10:

Sunderland 2-1 (Premier League), August 13th

Steaua Bucharest 5-0 (Champions League), August 16th (away)

Stoke 4-1 (Premier League), August 20th (away)

Steaua Bucharest 1-0 (Champions League), August 24th

West Ham 3-1 (Premier League), August 28th

Manchester United 2-1 (Premier League), September 10th (away)

Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-0 (Champions League), September 14th

Bournemouth 4-0 (Premier League), September 17th

Swansea 2-1 (EFL Cup), September 21st (away)

Swansea 3-1 (Premier League), September 24th (away)
