Loovens to remain patient
08 Oct 2008 - 13:57:10
Celtic defender Glenn Loovens has vowed to be patient as he looks to become a fixture at the heart of his new club's defence.
The 24-year-old Dutchman arrived at Parkhead from Cardiff City during the summer but has started just three games for the Scottish champions.
Loovens has been forced to play second fiddle to Stephen McManus and Gary Caldwell during the opening weeks of the new season, but is confident his chance to claim a regular starting spot will eventually come.
"Mick (McManus) and Gary are top players and it won't be easy to break up that partnership," he said.
"But I've signed for four years at Celtic, that's a long time. The manager has been good with me and I know what I have to do.
"Football-wise, I'm satisfied. Things are going well and I'm settling in more every week. Obviously, I want to play more games. But I'm certain I made the right decision to come here."
