Loovens: Players lost the title

Celtic ended the Scottish Premier League season with a goalless draw against Hearts - the third time in four games they had failed to score. The Hoops twice blew a lead over Rangers in the final month as their Old Firm rivals overturned a seven-point deficit to claim the title by four points. Strachan has always refused to discuss his long-term future and some Celtic fans have never taken to the man who won the title in his first three seasons in charge. But Loovens claims the players have to take responsibility for losing the championship. The Dutchman said: "Changes? That's something to ask the manager. "We'll see in the summer but the players feel the responsibility. "At the end of the day we go on to the pitch and we have to do it. "I hope Gordon Strachan stays because I like him as a manager. "He's been here for four years and has done so well for the club. "He was devastated after the game, we all were." The former Cardiff defender added: "We're all so disappointed and angry we let ourselves down. It's not a great feeling. "We threw away the title, that's how I feel. We were up front in the league all season yet gave it away in the last few games. We only have ourselves to blame."
