Loovens: Much Edu about nothing

17 May 2009 11:23
The Dutchman's studs caught Edu on the back of his knee as his foot came down after making a clearance during Celtic's 1-0 defeat at Ibrox on May 9. The panel will study footage of the clash to decide whether Loovens has a case to answer with the SFA's disciplinary committee. The American needed treatment but came back on to continue taking part in the game. The review panel is set to make a ruling early next week but Loovens expects to be cleared. "I'm a hard player but also fair," the former Cardiff defender said. "I just went in for the ball and at some point my leg had to come down to land on the ground. "There's no way I tried to hurt the player and I did not try to catch him deliberately. "Edu went off for treatment and I spoke to him as soon as he came back on. I said sorry, asked if he was okay and he told me he was fine. "I really don't know what all the fuss is about. It will be looked into but I'd be surprised if any action was taken against me." The review panel will also look into Scott McDonald's challenge on Dundee United defender Lee Wilkie during Celtic's 2-1 victory on Wednesday.
